X-Ray Technologist

The Imaging Technologist is able to independently produce high quality diagnostic images and assist physicians in obtaining fluoroscopic images. Follows all outlined safety protocols while ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality. Proficient in the use of all stationary and mobile devices necessary to obtain imaging studies. Competent in the use of all relevant computer systems. Examines all orders for accuracy in determining if signs and symptoms match exam ordered and follows departmental protocols. Clarifies orders with ordering physician if necessary. Explains study to the patient, appropriately questions patient for exam to be performed, instructs, and assists patients in proper positioning for the examination. Selects equipment and settings to optimize the image for diagnostic purposes as described by UWMC protocol. Exercises independent judgment and is able to tailor examination relative to patients clinical presentation and pathophysiological state. Appropriately monitors and communicates with the patient during exam and is able to assess patient pain and notify proper personnel for intervention if necessary.
