- Develop and implement nutrition programs and services that promote health and well-being for patients and residents.
- Oversee the daily operations of food service, including menu planning, food preparation, and meal service.
- Manage and lead a team of food service staff to ensure efficient and quality service.
- Monitor and maintain food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create specialized dietary plans for patients with specific dietary needs.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with dietary guidelines and regulations.
- Train and educate staff on nutrition and dietary guidelines.
- Establish and maintain relationships with food vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective food options.
- Develop and manage budgets for food service and ensure cost-effective practices.
- Communicate effectively with patients, residents, and their families to address any dietary concerns or preferences.
- Stay updated on current trends and research in the field of nutrition and implement new practices as needed.
- Uphold company values and standards in all aspects of the job.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food service and nutrition.
- Act as a liaison between food service and other departments within the healthcare facility.
- Continuously strive for improvement and seek out opportunities to enhance the food service program.
Education And Training: A Certified Dietary Manager (Cdm) Must Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent And Complete An Accredited Dietary Manager Training Program. This Includes Coursework In Food And Nutrition, Food Safety, Management And Leadership.
Certification: Candidates Must Be Certified As A Cdm Through The Association Of Nutrition And Foodservice Professionals (Anfp). This Requires Passing A National Exam And Completing Continuing Education Credits To Maintain Certification.
Experience: A Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience Working In Foodservice Management, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting, Is Typically Required For A Cdm Position. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Food And Nutrition, Menu Planning, Budgeting, And Staff Supervision.
Knowledge Of Regulations: A Cdm Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal And State Regulations Regarding Food Safety, Sanitation, And Nutrition In A Healthcare Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Menu Planning And Special Diets For Patients With Specific Medical Conditions.
Communication And Leadership Skills: The Job Of A Cdm Requires Strong Communication And Leadership Skills. They Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Staff, Patients, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Also Have The Ability To Lead And Manage A Team In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.
