
Principal Environmental Scientist
Plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises, and directs the operations of the Air Quality & Noise Division to provide regulatory and technical expertise, to develop, implement, and manage environmental programs, and to provide project management and program management in support of the environmental compliance and permitting programs of Hawaiian Electric, Maui Electric, and Hawaiʻi Electric Light. Develops division mission, strategic plans and goals, work programs and operating forecasts, and allocates division resources based on intra-departmental, inter-departmental, and inter-company prioritization of existing and forecasted projects and programs. Procures outside consulting and contracting services as necessary to augment in-house resources to achieve/maintain project and program scope, schedule, deliverables, and budget. Evaluates progress and performance of the division staff and the results obtained, and implements actions necessary to develop staff. Recruits, directs, guides, develops, trains, supervises, evaluates, and motivates subordinates. Meets, discusses, coordinates, and negotiates with parties inside and outside of company to maintain/expedite progress on division assignments.
7 to 10 years of relevant professional environmental management experience including supervision of environmental professionals.
Working knowledge of LEAN continuous improvement principles and best practices to achieve operational excellence.
