  1. Develop and maintain technical documentation for General Dynamics' products and services, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company standards.
  2. Collaborate with subject matter experts and other team members to gather technical information and ensure technical accuracy of documentation.
  3. Translate complex technical information into clear and concise language, making it accessible to various stakeholders.
  4. Review and revise technical documentation to ensure it meets quality standards and complies with industry regulations.
  5. Conduct research and gather information from various sources to support the development of technical documentation.
  6. Utilize a variety of tools and software to create and publish technical documentation, such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
  7. Develop and maintain templates and style guides to standardize technical writing across the organization.
  8. Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables, effectively managing multiple projects and priorities.
  9. Participate in product design and development meetings to provide input and ensure documentation needs are considered.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in technical writing to continuously improve documentation processes and standards.
  11. Mentor and train junior technical writers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering and marketing, to ensure consistency and accuracy of technical information across all materials.
  13. Proofread and edit technical documentation for accuracy, consistency, and readability.
  14. Follow company guidelines and procedures for document control and versioning.
  15. Assist with other writing tasks and projects as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Writing And Editing Experience: A Senior Technical Writer At General Dynamics Should Have A Minimum Of 5-7 Years Of Experience In Technical Writing And Editing, Preferably In A Defense Or Aerospace Industry.

  • Strong Technical Background: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Bachelor’s Degree In A Technical Field Such As Engineering, Computer Science, Or Information Technology. This Will Enable Them To Understand Complex Technical Concepts And Effectively Communicate Them To Non-Technical Audiences.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: As A Senior Role, The Candidate Should Possess Exceptional Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, To Effectively Collaborate With Cross-Functional Teams And Stakeholders. They Should Also Be Able To Manage Multiple Projects And Meet Tight Deadlines.

  • Proficient In Industry Tools And Software: The Senior Technical Writer Should Be Well-Versed In Industry-Standard Tools And Software Such As Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, And Content Management Systems. Knowledge Of Technical Writing Tools Like Madcap Flare Or Robohelp Is A Plus.

  • Knowledge Of Defense And Government Standards: General Dynamics Works Closely With Government Agencies And Follows Strict Defense And Government Standards For Documentation. The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of These Standards, Such As Mil-Std-38784 And S1000D, To Ensure Compliance And Deliver High-Quality Documentation.
