- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Conduct market research and stay current with industry trends to identify potential new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with suppliers, ensuring the best value for the company.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their procurement needs and develop sourcing strategies.
- Monitor and analyze supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate supplier bids and proposals, making recommendations for selection based on cost, quality, and delivery.

Extensive Experience In Procurement: The Ideal Candidate For A Senior Buyer Position At General Dynamics Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Procurement, Preferably In The Defense Or Aerospace Industry. They Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Procurement Processes, Contract Management, And Supplier Management.
Knowledge Of Federal Acquisition Regulations (Far): General Dynamics Is A Government Contractor, And Therefore, The Senior Buyer Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Federal Acquisition Regulations (Far) And Its Application In Procurement. This Includes Knowledge Of Cost And Pricing Analysis, Small Business Subcontracting, And Ethics In Procurement.
Strong Negotiation Skills: The Senior Buyer Will Be Responsible For Negotiating Contracts With Suppliers, And Hence, They Should Possess Excellent Negotiation Skills. This Includes The Ability To Understand And Analyze Supplier Proposals, Identify Cost-Saving Opportunities, And Negotiate Favorable Terms For General Dynamics.
Supply Chain Management Expertise: The Senior Buyer Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Supply Chain Management Principles, Including Demand Forecasting, Inventory Management, And Supply Chain Risk Management. They Should Be Able To Develop And Implement Supply Chain Strategies To Ensure Timely Delivery Of Materials And Services To Support General Dynamics' Operations.
Leadership And Team Management: As A Senior Buyer, The Candidate Will Be Leading A Team Of Buyers And Procurement Specialists. Therefore, They Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Mentor And Develop Team Members, Delegate Tasks, And Manage Conflicts.
