- Design and develop our OpenStack infrastructure to meet business needs and ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, identify solutions, and implement changes to our OpenStack environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to OpenStack infrastructure, including network, storage, and compute.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in OpenStack technology, and make recommendations for improvements to our infrastructure.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers on the team, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop their skills.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices.
- Develop and maintain documentation for all aspects of our OpenStack infrastructure, including architecture, design, and operational procedures.
- Work closely with vendors and external partners to evaluate and implement new OpenStack technologies and tools.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure the security and compliance of our OpenStack infrastructure.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely and effective support for production issues.
- Act as a subject matter expert on OpenStack and provide technical guidance and support to other teams within the organization.
- Continuously analyze and optimize our OpenStack environment to improve efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Communicate and coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful delivery of OpenStack projects.
- Act as a thought leader and champion for OpenStack technology within the organization, promoting its adoption and usage.
- Adhere to and promote company policies and procedures, including those related to security, compliance, and data protection.
Extensive Experience With Openstack: A Senior Staff Engineer At Geico Auto Insurance Must Have A Deep Understanding And Hands-On Experience With Openstack, Including Its Various Components Such As Nova, Neutron, And Cinder. This Includes The Ability To Troubleshoot And Resolve Complex Issues Within An Openstack Environment.
Strong Knowledge Of Cloud Computing: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Cloud Computing Concepts And Principles, Including Virtualization, Storage, And Networking. They Should Also Be Familiar With Other Cloud Platforms, Such As Aws And Azure.
Leadership Skills: As A Senior Member Of The Team, The Senior Staff Engineer Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills And Be Able To Guide And Mentor Junior Engineers. They Should Also Have Experience Leading Cross-Functional Teams And Driving Projects To Completion.
