- Conduct thorough investigations into employment-related issues and disputes, including interviewing relevant parties, reviewing documentation, and gathering evidence.
- Analyze and evaluate the findings of investigations to determine the appropriate course of action and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Provide legal advice and counsel to management and HR on employment-related matters, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and employee grievances.
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent and mitigate potential legal risks related to employment matters.
- Represent Geico in litigation related to employment matters, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and advocating on behalf of the company in court.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in employment laws and regulations, and advise the company on any potential impact on policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as HR and management, to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Provide training and education to employees and management on employment-related legal issues and best practices.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of company policies and procedures related to employment matters, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Build and maintain relationships with external legal counsel and other relevant professionals to support the company's legal strategy.
- Act as a subject matter expert on employment law matters and provide guidance and support to other departments within the company.
- Manage a caseload of employment-related legal matters and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Act with integrity, ethics, and professionalism at all times, upholding the company's values and standards.
- Continuously improve and adapt processes and procedures to align with industry best practices and evolving legal requirements.
Extensive Knowledge Of Employment Laws And Regulations: A Qualified Employment Litigation And Investigation Counsel At Geico Auto Insurance Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal, State, And Local Laws Governing Employment Practices. This Includes But Is Not Limited To Title Vii Of The Civil Rights Act, The Americans With Disabilities Act, And The Fair Labor Standards Act.
Experience In Employment Litigation: To Effectively Represent Geico Auto Insurance In Employment-Related Lawsuits, Candidates Should Have A Strong Background In Employment Litigation. This Includes Experience With Drafting Legal Documents, Conducting Depositions, And Representing Clients In Court.
Investigative Skills: A Key Responsibility For This Role Is Conducting Internal Investigations Into Employee Complaints And Allegations Of Misconduct. Candidates Should Possess Strong Investigative Skills, Including The Ability To Gather And Analyze Evidence, Interview Witnesses, And Produce Thorough And Unbiased Reports.
Communication And Negotiation Skills: As A Representative Of Geico Auto Insurance, The Employment Litigation And Investigation Counsel Will Need To Effectively Communicate And Negotiate With Opposing Counsel, Government Agencies, And Internal Stakeholders.
