- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the organization on all matters related to cyber law and cybersecurity.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant cyber laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to cybersecurity.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cyber trends and changes in laws and regulations to anticipate potential legal issues and provide proactive solutions.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings related to cybersecurity, including investigations, litigation, and regulatory inquiries.
- Develop and deliver training and educational programs to increase awareness and understanding of cyber laws and responsibilities within the organization.
- Advise on the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts and agreements related to cybersecurity, including vendor contracts and data privacy agreements.
- Work closely with external legal counsel and other third-party experts to ensure the organization has access to the best legal advice and resources.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all legal activities related to cybersecurity and ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement a strategic approach to cybersecurity that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and relevant government agencies and industry organizations to stay informed on cybersecurity laws and regulations and advocate for the organization's interests.
- Handle any other legal matters related to cybersecurity as assigned by the General Counsel or senior leadership.
Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, With A Focus On Cyber Security And Data Privacy.
In-Depth Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Cyber Security And Data Privacy, Including The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (Glba) And The Health Insurance Portability And Accountability Act (Hipaa).
Strong Understanding Of The Insurance Industry And The Unique Cyber Security And Data Privacy Risks Faced By The Company.
Excellent Communication And Analytical Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Advise And Train Employees On Cyber Security And Data Privacy Matters.
