As a Senior Technical Designer, you will play a crucial role in bringing our designs to life by ensuring they are both aesthetically appealing and functional.   1. Develop and maintain technical specifications for all garment styles, including measurements, construction details, and material requirements.
  2. Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure designs are translated accurately into production samples.
  3. Conduct fit sessions and provide feedback to design and production teams to ensure garments meet quality and fit standards.
  4. Identify and troubleshoot potential production issues, providing solutions and suggestions for improvement.
  5. Review and approve production samples, ensuring they meet design and quality standards.
  6. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and techniques, and make recommendations for incorporating them into our designs.
  7. Train and mentor junior technical designers on fit and construction techniques.
  8. Work closely with fabric suppliers to test and approve new materials for use in our designs.
  9. Communicate with overseas factories to ensure accuracy and quality of production samples.
  10. Participate in design meetings and provide technical expertise and recommendations to achieve design vision.
  11. Ensure all garments meet safety and compliance standards.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that may arise during the production process.
  13. Continuously review and improve pattern blocks and grading to ensure consistency across all sizes.
  14. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all technical specifications and fit comments.
  15. Contribute to the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Technical Design: A Senior Technical Designer At Gap Should Have A Minimum Of 5-7 Years Of Experience In Technical Design, With A Strong Understanding Of Garment Construction, Fit, And Production Processes.

  • Knowledge Of Industry Standards And Regulations: The Candidate Should Possess A Deep Understanding Of Industry Standards And Regulations Related To Apparel Design, Including Safety, Sustainability, And Quality Control.

  • Proficiency In Cad And Plm Software: A Senior Technical Designer Should Have Advanced Skills In Computer-Aided Design (Cad) Software, Such As Adobe Illustrator And Photoshop, As Well As Product Lifecycle Management (Plm) Tools To Create And Manage Technical Specifications.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Role Of A Senior Technical Designer At Gap Involves Working Closely With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Design, Merchandising, And Production. Therefore, The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Effectively Convey Technical Information And Work Collaboratively With Others.

  • Attention To Detail And Problem-Solving Abilities: A Senior Technical Designer Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail And The Ability To Identify And Troubleshoot Potential Production Issues. They Should Also Have Strong Problem-Solving Skills To Find Efficient And Effective Solutions To These Issues.
