As the Sommelier, you will curate an exceptional wine selection and provide personalized recommendations to our guests while upholding the highest standards of service.   1. Select and maintain a diverse and high-quality wine selection for the hotel's restaurants and bars.
  2. Continuously educate oneself on different types of wines and stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
  3. Collaborate with the culinary team to create wine pairings that enhance the flavors of the menu items.
  4. Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing personalized recommendations based on their preferences.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized wine cellar, ensuring proper storage and labeling of all bottles.
  6. Conduct wine tastings and classes for guests and staff to promote and educate about the hotel's wine program.
  7. Train and supervise junior sommeliers and other staff members on wine knowledge and service standards.
  8. Assist with inventory management, ordering, and budgeting for the wine program.
  9. Ensure all wine service is in line with company standards and policies.
  10. Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests related to wine in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  11. Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  12. Represent the hotel at wine events and maintain relationships with local wine vendors.
  13. Maintain accurate records and reports related to wine sales, inventory, and expenses.
  14. Continuously strive to exceed guest expectations and deliver exceptional service to enhance their overall dining experience.
  15. Adhere to company values, policies, and procedures at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Wine: A Sommelier At Four Seasons Hotels And Resorts Must Possess A Deep Understanding Of Wine Regions, Varietals, Production Methods, And Food Pairings. This Includes Knowledge Of Both Domestic And International Wines.

  • Certification Or Relevant Education: Most Reputable Hotels And Resorts, Including Four Seasons, Require Their Sommeliers To Have A Sommelier Certification From A Recognized Institution Such As The Court Of Master Sommeliers Or The International Sommelier Guild. A Degree In Oenology Or Hospitality Management With A Focus On Wine Is Also Highly Valued.

  • Experience In High-End Dining Establishments: Four Seasons Hotels And Resorts Are Known For Their Luxurious And Upscale Dining Experiences. Therefore, A Sommelier Must Have Previous Experience Working In Fine Dining Restaurants Or High-End Hotels, Where They Have Honed Their Skills In Wine Service, Menu Development, And Guest Interactions.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As An Ambassador Of The Hotel's Wine Program, A Sommelier Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Guests And Staff About Wine Options And Recommendations. They Must Also Have Exceptional Customer Service Skills To Ensure A Positive And Memorable Dining Experience For Guests.

  • Strong Leadership And Team Management Abilities: In Addition To Being A Wine Expert, A Sommelier At Four Seasons Hotels And Resorts Is Also Responsible For Managing A Team Of Servers And Assistants. Therefore, They Must Possess Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Train And Mentor Staff, Manage Inventory And Budgets, And Handle Any Customer Complaints Or Issues Related To The Wine Program.
