
Senior State Tax Accountant

- Manage all aspects of state tax compliance for the company, ensuring timely and accurate filing of state tax returns and payments.
- Research and analyze state tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential tax savings opportunities.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to provide guidance and recommendations on state tax matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and complete reporting of state tax information.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state tax laws and regulations, and communicate any changes or updates to relevant parties.
- Prepare and review state tax provisions and disclosures for financial reporting purposes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with state tax authorities and external tax advisors.
- Identify areas for process improvements and implement new procedures to streamline state tax processes.
- Provide support and guidance to junior tax team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and trends related to state tax, and incorporate best practices into daily work.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper handling of state tax audits and inquiries.
- Prepare and present state tax reports and presentations to senior management.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential state tax risks for the company.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to state tax.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In State Tax Accounting, Preferably In A Large Financial Institution Or Public Accounting Firm.
Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or A Related Field. Advanced Degree And/Or Cpa Designation Preferred.
Extensive Knowledge Of State Tax Laws And Regulations, Including Income, Sales/Use, And Property Tax.
Strong Analytical Skills And Attention To Detail, With The Ability To Interpret And Apply Complex Tax Laws To Financial Data.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate Effectively With Cross-Functional Teams And Present Complex Tax Information To Senior Management.
