Job Description

At First Horizon, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our innovative team and help us continue to drive our business forward. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working in the financial services industry and delivering exceptional customer service.The Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for assessing and analyzing credit risk to determine whether to approve or deny credit requests. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial lending and/or credit risk management, with a focus on commercial and/or industrial loans. The ideal candidate will have the ability to analyze financial statements and credit information, including cash flow analysis, in order to make sound lending decisions. Experience in loan structuring and negotiation is essential.The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, and have the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting. A Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Assess and analyze credit risk to determine whether to approve or deny credit requests.
Analyze financial statements and credit information, including cash flow analysis, in order to make sound lending decisions.
Structure and negotiate loans.
Maintain excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Remain highly organized and detail-oriented.
Work independently as well as in a team setting.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and industry trends.
Keep records of all credit decisions made and follow up with customers.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
