  1. Develop and implement security protocols and procedures for managing access and credentials for employees and contractors.
  2. Monitor and maintain access control systems and databases to ensure accuracy and compliance with security policies.
  3. Conduct regular audits and reviews of access and credentialing processes to identify and address any potential security risks or vulnerabilities.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent and effective implementation of security protocols across the organization.
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies, and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
  6. Train and educate employees on security protocols and best practices, including the proper handling of sensitive information.
  7. Investigate and respond to security incidents, including conducting thorough investigations and providing recommendations for remediation.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of access and credentialing activities, and provide reports and metrics as needed.
  9. Serve as a point of contact for employees and contractors regarding access and credentialing inquiries and issues.
  10. Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct in all aspects of the job.
  11. Collaborate with external agencies and partners to ensure compliance with external security requirements and regulations.
  12. Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as needed.
  13. Proactively identify and address potential security risks and vulnerabilities through regular risk assessments.
  14. Continuously improve and streamline access and credentialing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  15. Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner, both internally and externally.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Access Control Systems: A Security Specialist At Fema Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Access Control Systems And Technologies, Such As Biometric Scanners, Card Readers, And Keypads. They Should Also Have Experience With Managing And Troubleshooting These Systems.

  • Familiarity With Security Protocols And Regulations: The Candidate Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Security Protocols And Regulations, Such As The Federal Information Security Management Act (Fisma) And The Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (Hspd-12). They Should Also Be Knowledgeable About Fema's Security Policies And Procedures.

  • Experience In Credentialing And Identity Management: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Managing Credentials And Identities For A Large Organization. They Should Be Well-Versed In The Process Of Issuing, Revoking, And Managing Access Control Credentials For Employees And Contractors.

  • Attention To Detail: A Security Specialist Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure That Access Control Systems And Procedures Are Properly Implemented And Maintained. They Should Also Be Able To Identify Potential Vulnerabilities And Recommend Appropriate Solutions.

  • Communication And Collaboration Skills: Fema's Security Specialist Must Have Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work Effectively With Other Security Personnel, It Teams, And Employees To Ensure The Security Of The Organization. They Should Also Be Able To Communicate Complex Security Concepts To Non-Technical Stakeholders.
