- Collaborate with the External Affairs team to develop and implement effective strategies for communicating FEMA's mission and services to the public and various stakeholders.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for external inquiries and requests related to FEMA's programs and services.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of FEMA, and provide recommendations for improving outreach and messaging.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and media outlets.
- Plan and execute outreach events and activities to increase awareness of FEMA's programs and services.
- Create and disseminate informational materials, such as press releases, fact sheets, and social media content, to educate the public about FEMA's role in disaster response and recovery.
- Coordinate with other departments and agencies to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all external communications.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in external affairs and apply them to FEMA's outreach efforts.
- Conduct research and analysis to support the development of new programs and initiatives.
- Provide training and guidance to internal staff on effective external communication techniques.
- Represent FEMA at meetings, conferences, and events as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all external affairs activities and metrics.
- Assist with crisis communication efforts during disasters, including serving as a spokesperson to the media.
- Uphold FEMA's values and policies in all interactions and decision-making processes.
Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field, Such As Public Administration, Communications, Or Political Science.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Public Relations, External Affairs, Or Government Affairs.
Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Diverse Stakeholders.
Knowledge Of Disaster Response And Emergency Management Procedures, As Well As Familiarity With Fema Policies And Programs.
Proven Ability To Build And Maintain Relationships With External Partners, Such As Government Agencies, Media Outlets, And Community Organizations.
