You will work closely with communities and stakeholders to ensure that historic properties are properly identified, evaluated, and protected during disaster response and recovery efforts.To be successful in this role, you must possess a deep understanding of historic preservation principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills.   1. Conduct comprehensive reviews and evaluations of historic properties to determine their significance and eligibility for preservation.
  2. Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure that historic preservation laws and guidelines are followed during disaster response and recovery efforts.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate potential impacts to historic properties during disaster events.
  4. Advise and guide disaster response and recovery teams on the proper treatment and protection of historic properties.
  5. Monitor and track the progress of historic preservation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including historic preservation organizations, to promote collaboration and support for preservation efforts.
  7. Conduct research and analysis to support the identification and documentation of historic properties.
  8. Provide technical assistance and guidance to local and state partners on historic preservation issues.
  9. Review and provide feedback on proposed actions and projects that may affect historic properties.
  10. Develop and deliver educational materials and training programs to increase awareness and understanding of historic preservation principles.
  11. Keep up-to-date with current trends and best practices in the field of historic preservation.
  12. Represent FEMA at meetings, conferences, and other events related to historic preservation.
  13. Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate the importance of preserving our nation's cultural heritage.
  14. Ensure that all historic preservation activities are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  15. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to historic preservation within FEMA.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Historic Preservation, Architecture, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Historic Preservation, Preferably In A Government Or Emergency Management Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Federal And State Historic Preservation Laws, Regulations, And Guidelines.

  • Experience Conducting Historic Resource Surveys, Evaluations, And Documentation.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Stakeholders And Effectively Communicate The Importance Of Historic Preservation In Disaster Response And Recovery.
