
Hazard Mitigation Floodplain Management Specialist
We at FEMA are searching for an experienced and motivated Hazard Mitigation Floodplain Management Specialist to join our team. An ideal candidate for this position will have the necessary knowledge and experience to help the agency promote effective floodplain management and hazard mitigation practices. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with FEMA partners and other stakeholders and have a commitment to the mission of the agency.The Hazard Mitigation and Floodplain Management Specialist will be responsible for providing technical advice and guidance to local, State, Tribal, and Federal agencies on the effective implementation of hazard mitigation and floodplain management programs. This position requires a combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of hazard mitigation and floodplain management, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders.Required qualifications for this position include:• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural sciences, geography, public administration, or related field• A minimum of three years of professional experience in hazard mitigation, floodplain management, or related field• An understanding of applicable regulations, standards, and FEMA policies• Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders• The ability to travel as neededIf you have the required qualifications, a passion for working with FEMA and other stakeholders, and a commitment to helping protect communities from the dangers of floods, we welcome your application.
