Job Description

  1. Develop and implement plans and policies to promote community resilience and preparedness in the face of disasters.
  2. Conduct research and analysis to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within communities.
  3. Collaborate with community stakeholders, including local government officials, emergency management personnel, and community organizations, to develop disaster preparedness plans.
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert on disaster preparedness and response, providing guidance and support to community leaders and residents.
  5. Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to educate communities on disaster preparedness and response.
  6. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of existing disaster preparedness plans and make recommendations for improvements.
  7. Develop and maintain partnerships with state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders to coordinate disaster preparedness efforts.
  8. Serve as a liaison between FEMA and local communities, providing updates and information on disaster preparedness initiatives and resources.
  9. Stay current on emerging trends and best practices in disaster preparedness and incorporate them into community planning efforts.
  10. Lead and facilitate community meetings and workshops to gather input and feedback on disaster preparedness plans.
  11. Collaborate with other FEMA teams and departments to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to disaster preparedness and response.
  12. Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to disaster preparedness and community planning.
  13. Serve as a spokesperson for FEMA and advocate for the importance of community resilience and preparedness.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve community preparedness plans and processes to ensure the most effective and efficient response to disasters.
  15. Act as a mentor and resource for other community planners and team members, promoting a culture of collaboration and learning.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Urban Planning, Community Development, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Community Planning, Preferably In Disaster Preparedness And Recovery.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Laws And Regulations Related To Community Planning And Emergency Management.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Community Stakeholders And Government Agencies.

  • Proficiency In Gis And Other Planning Software, As Well As Data Analysis And Mapping Skills.
