
Civil Engineer
In this position, you will serve as a Civil Engineer in the Risk Analysis Branch of the Mitigation Division, this position requires knowledge of local and regional natural hazard planning, hydrology, hydraulics and floodplain mapping. Managing and overseeing highly technical and complex projects relating to floodplain mapping. Recommending technical direction and coordinating with other Regional Project Officers in conducting flood risk studies and mapping. Reviewing completed work submitted by Regional mapping partners for technical adequacy of results and to determine conformance with FEMA policies, procedures, and methods. Collaborating with Federal Agencies, State Agencies, Tribes, local governments and other stakeholders in the development and review of flood hazard information. Identifying and defining study and mapping standards and recommending modifications so that flood hazard maps and studies reflect current policy and legal requirements.
Experience interacting with diverse partners, including coordinating with state/local stakeholders.
Experience serving as a civil engineer in developing hydrology, hydraulics, topographic data collection, and surveying practices
Experience managing flood insurance studies and risk map projects
