Job Description

Welcome to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where our mission is to support citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation, we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Assistant Administrator of Risk Management. As the Assistant Administrator, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in assessing, managing, and mitigating potential risks and threats to our nation's safety and security. We are looking for someone with a strong background in risk management and a passion for supporting our communities in times of crisis.   1. Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies in alignment with FEMA's mission and goals.
  2. Conduct risk assessments and analysis to identify potential hazards and threats to national safety and security.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and prioritize risk management priorities and initiatives.
  4. Identify and recommend measures to mitigate risks and enhance response and recovery efforts.
  5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management strategies and initiatives.
  6. Provide guidance and support to regional and local offices in developing and implementing risk management plans.
  7. Stay updated on current and emerging risks and threats, and make recommendations for proactive measures to address them.
  8. Analyze data and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement in risk management processes.
  9. Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff and stakeholders on risk management best practices.
  10. Serve as a subject matter expert on risk management, providing advice and guidance to senior leadership and other departments within FEMA.
  11. Manage a team of risk management professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  12. Participate in emergency response efforts as needed, utilizing risk management expertise to support decision-making and response planning.
  13. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to risk management activities.
  14. Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to share best practices and coordinate risk management efforts.
  15. Represent FEMA at conferences, meetings, and other events related to risk management.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Risk Management, Emergency Management, Or Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of Federal Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Risk Management And Emergency Management.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Identify Potential Risks And Develop Strategies To Mitigate Them.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Internal And External Stakeholders.
