  1. Handle incoming and outgoing freight and packages with care and efficiency.
  2. Operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload shipments.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely sorting, scanning, and labeling of packages.

  • Physical Strength And Endurance: Freight Handlers Must Be Able To Lift And Move Heavy Packages, Often Weighing Over 50 Pounds, Repeatedly Throughout Their Shift. They Also Need To Have The Endurance To Work On Their Feet For Extended Periods Of Time.

  • Attention To Detail: Accuracy Is Crucial In The Freight Handling Process, As Packages Must Be Sorted And Loaded Onto The Correct Trucks For Delivery. Candidates Must Have A Strong Attention To Detail To Ensure That The Correct Packages Are Being Handled And Loaded.

  • Time Management Skills: Freight Handlers Must Be Able To Work Efficiently And Manage Their Time Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment. This Includes Prioritizing Tasks, Meeting Deadlines, And Adapting To Changing Priorities.

  • Teamwork And Communication: Freight Handlers Work As Part Of A Larger Team, So The Ability To Communicate Effectively And Work Collaboratively Is Essential. They Must Be Able To Follow Instructions, Provide Assistance To Team Members, And Communicate Any Issues Or Challenges That Arise.

  • Forklift Operation And Safety: Many Freight Handling Positions Require The Use Of Forklifts And Other Equipment. Candidates May Need To Have Prior Experience Operating Forklifts And Must Demonstrate Knowledge Of Safety Protocols And Procedures To Avoid Accidents And Injuries In The Workplace.
