Head of Claims Legal Services

Defines the operating strategy for SAE and CCRU. Oversees practice of providing expert legal advice to claims and training department regarding, opinions and recommendations associated with complex coverage and research issues in order to mitigate and avoid extra contractual exposures arising from claim handling activities and processes and for coverage and policy issues identified. Responsible for maintaining market leading LAE while ensuring professional and ethical defense of claims against the Exchanges. Keeps abreast of and provides support and interpretation of common institutional and class action issues and changes in relevant law. Legal reviews of written materials, including but not limited to claims training materials, claims handling guidelines, vendor contracts and settlement agreements. Manages legal spend both internally and externally through oversight of staff/operational efficiencies and through effective strategy of use of outside panel counsel and legal vendors.
