Staff Product Manager, Search Retrieval

- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the Search Retrieval department, in alignment with overall company goals and objectives.
- Lead and manage a team of search retrieval specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team is delivering high-quality results.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis to continuously improve the search algorithms, ensuring that our customers have a seamless and efficient experience when searching for products on our platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, design, and marketing, to ensure the search retrieval function is integrated into all relevant areas of the company.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to search algorithms, and incorporate these learnings into the overall strategy.
- Monitor and track key metrics and performance indicators for the search retrieval function, and use data to make informed decisions and drive improvements.
- Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to understand customer needs and preferences, and use this knowledge to inform the search retrieval strategy.
- Communicate updates, progress, and challenges to senior leadership and stakeholders, providing recommendations for addressing any issues or obstacles.
- Continuously assess and improve the customer experience related to search retrieval, gathering feedback and implementing changes as needed.
- Promote a positive and collaborative team culture, fostering a sense of ownership, accountability, and innovation within the Search Retrieval department.
Experience In Product Management: A Staff Product Manager, Search Retrieval At Etsy Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In Product Management, With A Proven Track Record Of Developing And Launching Successful Search Retrieval Products.
Strong Understanding Of E-Commerce Search: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of E-Commerce Search, Including Keyword Matching, Relevance Ranking, And Search Result Presentation. They Should Also Have Experience With Search Optimization Techniques And Be Able To Analyze Search Data To Make Data-Driven Decisions.
Technical Expertise: A Staff Product Manager, Search Retrieval Should Have A Strong Technical Background, With Experience In Working With Engineers And Data Scientists To Develop And Implement Search Algorithms And Features. They Should Also Have A Good Understanding Of Coding Languages And Data Analysis Tools.
Leadership And Project Management Skills: This Role Requires Strong Leadership Skills To Guide A Team Of Product Managers And Cross-Functional Teams To Deliver Results. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Project Management, With The Ability To Prioritize Tasks, Meet Deadlines, And Manage Multiple Projects Simultaneously.
Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: To Be Successful In This Role, A Staff Product Manager, Search Retrieval Should Have Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal.
