As a Fraud Investigator, you will play a crucial role in protecting our community of buyers and sellers from fraudulent activities. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a strong passion for investigative work and a deep understanding of fraudulent patterns and behaviors.   1. Conduct thorough investigations into reported instances of fraud on the Etsy marketplace.
  2. Analyze data and patterns to identify potential fraudulent activities.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for preventing fraud.
  4. Monitor and review transactions and user accounts for suspicious activity.
  5. Communicate with buyers and sellers to gather evidence and information related to fraud cases.
  6. Prepare detailed reports and documentation of fraud cases for legal and law enforcement purposes.
  7. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to fraud prevention.
  8. Work closely with the customer support team to resolve fraud-related issues and provide guidance on fraud prevention for customer inquiries.
  9. Identify and escalate high-risk cases to senior management for further action.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  11. Participate in training and development programs to enhance investigative skills and knowledge of fraud prevention techniques.
  12. Assist in the development and implementation of fraud prevention policies and procedures.
  13. Conduct periodic fraud risk assessments and recommend measures to mitigate risks.
  14. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations related to fraud and ensure compliance.
  15. Serve as a point of contact for external partners and law enforcement agencies in fraud-related investigations.

  • Knowledge Of E-Commerce And Online Marketplaces: A Fraud Investigator At Etsy Should Have A Strong Understanding Of How Online Marketplaces Operate And How E-Commerce Transactions Are Conducted. This Includes Knowledge Of Different Payment Methods, Seller And Buyer Protections, And Common Fraudulent Practices In Online Marketplaces.

  • Attention To Detail: Given The Complexity Of Online Transactions And The Ever-Evolving Tactics Used By Fraudsters, A Fraud Investigator Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail. They Should Be Able To Spot Inconsistencies And Irregularities In Data And Be Diligent In Following Up On Any Suspicious Activity.

  • Communication And Collaboration: Effective Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Essential For A Fraud Investigator At Etsy. They Will Need To Work Closely With Other Teams, Such As Customer Support And Legal, To Gather Information And Resolve Cases. They Should Also Be Able To Clearly Communicate Their Findings And Recommendations To Relevant Stakeholders.
