Job Description

As a Technical Artist (Mocap) at Electronic Arts, you will have the opportunity to bring digital characters to life in our highly anticipated games. You will use your expertise in motion capture technology to bridge the gap between art and technology, creating seamless and realistic animations that enhance the player's experience. We are seeking a talented and motivated individual who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of game development and has a strong understanding of both art and technical workflows.   1. Work closely with the art and animation teams to understand their vision and translate it into realistic and high-quality animations using motion capture technology.
  2. Utilize your technical knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and optimize the motion capture process, ensuring efficient and accurate data capture.
  3. Collaborate with other technical artists and developers to develop tools and pipelines that streamline the integration of motion capture data into the game engine.
  4. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in motion capture technology and techniques, and make recommendations for incorporating them into our development process.
  5. Ensure that all motion capture data is properly labeled, organized, and stored for easy access and future use.
  6. Work with the animation team to refine and polish motion capture data, adding secondary animations and correcting any glitches or errors.
  7. Create documentation and guides for the animation team to use when working with motion capture data, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  8. Participate in regular team meetings and provide progress updates, identifying any potential issues and offering solutions.
  9. Collaborate with other departments, such as programming and design, to ensure that motion capture animations fit seamlessly into the game's technical and artistic requirements.
  10. Continuously seek out ways to improve the overall quality and realism of motion capture animations in the game, going above and beyond to deliver an exceptional player experience.

Job Qualifications
  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Motion Capture Technology: A Technical Artist (Mocap) At Ea Create Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Principles And Techniques Of Motion Capture, Including Knowledge Of Various Hardware And Software Used For Mocap.

  • Strong Technical Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Strong Technical Skills, Including Proficiency In Programming Languages Commonly Used In Motion Capture, Such As Python And C++, As Well As Experience With Motion Capture Software And Tools Like Optitrack And Vicon.

  • Experience In Animation And Rigging: A Technical Artist (Mocap) Should Have Experience In Animation And Rigging, As They Will Be Responsible For Creating And Setting Up Animation Rigs For Characters And Props To Be Used In Mocap Sessions.

  • Knowledge Of Game Development Pipelines: As A Technical Artist (Mocap) Will Be Working On Video Game Projects, They Should Have A Good Understanding Of Game Development Pipelines And Be Able To Collaborate Effectively With Other Team Members, Such As Animators And Programmers.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Technical Artists (Mocap) At Ea Create Should Be Able To Troubleshoot And Solve Technical Issues That May Arise During Mocap Sessions, Such As Data Corruption Or Hardware Malfunctions. They Should Also Be Able To Find Creative Solutions To Optimize Mocap Data For Use In Game Development.
