  1. Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for users on the Discord platform.
  2. Monitor and review user-generated content to identify and address potential safety issues.
  3. Investigate and respond to reports of inappropriate or harmful content on the platform.
  4. Collaborate with other teams to develop strategies for preventing and addressing online harassment, cyberbullying, and other forms of harmful behavior.
  5. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to online safety and make recommendations for improvement.
  6. Provide legal guidance and support to the Discord team on matters related to trust and safety.
  7. Work closely with law enforcement and legal authorities in response to legal requests and investigations.
  8. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  9. Communicate with users and handle escalations related to trust and safety concerns.
  10. Train and educate other team members on trust and safety protocols and procedures.
  11. Stay up-to-date on community guidelines and ensure they are consistently applied.
  12. Identify and report any potential legal risks or issues related to trust and safety.
  13. Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement crisis management plans.
  14. Participate in industry events and conferences to share knowledge and stay informed on new developments in the field of online safety.
  15. Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all users and act as an advocate for their safety and well-being.

  • Knowledge Of Online Safety And Community Guidelines: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Online Safety Practices And Community Guidelines, As They Will Be Responsible For Upholding These Standards On The Discord Platform.

  • Experience In Legal Or Compliance: A Background In Law Or Compliance Is Important For A Trust & Safety Counsel At Discord, As They Will Be Dealing With Sensitive Issues And Legal Matters Related To User Safety And Content Moderation.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Role Of A Trust & Safety Counsel Involves Working Closely With Various Teams, Including Legal, Customer Support, And Product Teams. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Position.
