Senior Manager, US State Public Policy

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement state-level policy strategies that align with Discord's overall goals and objectives.
2. Monitor and analyze state legislative and regulatory developments that may impact Discord's business and community.
3. Build relationships with key stakeholders, including state legislators, regulators, and advocacy groups, to promote Discord's interests and advocate for our platform and community.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including government relations, legal, product, and communications, to develop and execute state-level policy initiatives.
5. Represent Discord in meetings, hearings, and other events related to state policy issues, and effectively communicate our positions and advocacy efforts.
6. Conduct research and provide analysis to support policy positions and initiatives, and stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to advance Discord's policy objectives and priorities.
8. Work closely with the legal team to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations and provide guidance on potential risks and opportunities.
9. Act as a subject matter expert on state-level policy issues and provide guidance and advice to internal teams on potential impacts and strategies.
10. Collaborate with the community and safety teams to ensure that our policies and practices align with our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive online space for our users.
11. Represent Discord at industry conferences, events, and other external forums to share our perspective on state policy issues and promote our company's values and mission.
12. Keep internal stakeholders informed about state policy developments and initiatives and provide updates on progress and results.
13. Provide thought leadership on state policy issues and share insights and recommendations with the broader policy team.
14. Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our state-level policy initiatives and make recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.
