- Develop and implement a comprehensive public policy strategy for Discord in Latin America, in alignment with the company's overall mission and values.
- Monitor and analyze political and regulatory developments in the region, and proactively identify potential risks and opportunities for the company.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the region, including government officials, regulators, industry associations, and civil society organizations.
- Represent Discord in meetings, conferences, and other public events to advocate for our platform and policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Product, and Trust & Safety, to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations in the region.
- Work closely with our Trust & Safety team to develop and implement policies and procedures to promote online safety and protect user rights on our platform.
- Monitor and respond to policy-related issues and inquiries from users, government agencies, and other external parties.
- Develop educational materials and trainings for internal teams and external stakeholders on relevant policy issues and updates.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices related to public policy and gaming communities, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on public policy matters for internal teams and external partners.
Extensive Experience In Public Policy: The Ideal Candidate For The Head Of Public Policy, Latin America Role At Discord Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience Working In The Public Policy Field, Preferably In The Latin American Region. This Experience Should Include Developing And Implementing Effective Policies, As Well As Navigating Complex Regulatory Landscapes.
Strong Understanding Of Latin American Markets: Discord Is Looking For A Candidate Who Has A Deep Understanding Of The Political, Economic, And Cultural Landscape Of Latin America. This Includes Knowledge Of Key Stakeholders, Regulatory Frameworks, And Current Issues Impacting The Region.
Excellent Communication And Advocacy Skills: As The Head Of Public Policy, Latin America, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Representing Discord's Interests To Governments, Regulators, And Other Stakeholders In The Region. Therefore, Strong Communication And Advocacy Skills Are Essential For This Role.
Ability To Work Collaboratively: The Successful Candidate Should Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Internal Teams And External Partners To Develop And Implement Effective Public Policy Strategies. This Includes Working With Cross-Functional Teams Such As Legal, Communications, And Government Relations.
Fluency In Spanish And Portuguese: Discord Is Looking For A Candidate Who Is Fluent In Both Spanish And Portuguese, As These Are The Primary Languages Spoken In Most Latin American Countries. This Fluency Is Crucial For Effective Communication And Relationship-Building With Stakeholders In The Region.
