  1. Develop and deliver engaging and informative lectures and class materials on inpatient coding to students.
  2. Utilize industry best practices and current trends to ensure that the curriculum reflects the most up-to-date information.
  3. Design and implement effective assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  4. Provide individualized support and guidance to students, including holding office hours and providing feedback on assignments.
  5. Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure consistency and continuity in the curriculum.
  6. Stay updated on changes and advancements in the field of inpatient coding and incorporate them into teaching materials.
  7. Mentor and advise students on career opportunities and paths within the healthcare industry.
  8. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  9. Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
  11. Represent DeVry University and the inpatient coding program in a professional and positive manner.
  12. Adhere to university policies and procedures, as well as industry ethical standards.
  13. Collaborate with the admissions team to recruit potential students and promote the inpatient coding program.
  14. Act as a role model and mentor for students, promoting professionalism and a strong work ethic.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve teaching methods and materials to enhance the learning experience for students.

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive Coding Experience: A Visiting Professor For Inpatient Coding At Devry University Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Inpatient Coding And Be Proficient In Various Coding Systems Such As Icd-10-Cm, Cpt, And Hcpcs.

  • Coding Certifications: A Strong Candidate For This Position Should Hold A Coding Certification Such As Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs), Certified Professional Coder (Cpc), Or Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit).

  • Teaching Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Teaching In A Classroom Setting, Preferably In A Higher Education Institution, And Have A Thorough Understanding Of Adult Learning Principles.

  • Knowledge Of Inpatient Coding Guidelines: The Visiting Professor Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Inpatient Coding Guidelines, Including Medicare Guidelines, And Be Able To Effectively Teach These Concepts To Students.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential For A Visiting Professor, As They Will Be Responsible For Delivering Lectures, Leading Discussions, And Providing Feedback To Students. The Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate Complex Coding Concepts In A Clear And Understandable Manner.
