We are currently seeking a highly motivated and passionate FWS Student Worker III to join our team as an Off Campus Reading Tutor. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with students to enhance their reading skills and support their academic success.   1. Provide one-on-one reading tutoring services to students in need of academic support.
  2. Plan and develop individualized lesson plans based on students' specific reading needs and learning styles.
  3. Monitor and track students' progress and adjust tutoring techniques as needed.
  4. Collaborate with other tutors and academic advisors to ensure students' academic success.
  5. Encourage and motivate students to reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals.
  6. Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for students seeking tutoring services.
  7. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to address any concerns or issues related to tutoring services.
  8. Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance tutoring skills and stay updated on the latest teaching techniques.
  9. Adhere to all university policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.
  10. Assist in promoting and marketing tutoring services to students and faculty.
  11. Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions and provide reports to the supervisor as needed.
  12. Act as a role model and mentor for students, promoting a strong work ethic and dedication to academic success.
  13. Uphold the mission and values of DeVry University and represent the university in a professional manner at all times.
  14. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of tutoring services.
  15. Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of tutoring services and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications

  • Prior Tutoring Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In Providing Academic Support And Tutoring Services To Students. This Can Include Experience In A Formal Tutoring Setting, As A Peer Tutor, Or As A Teaching Assistant.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Reading Tutor, The Fws Student Worker Iii Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Complex Concepts And Ideas To Students. This Includes Being Able To Adapt Their Communication Style To Meet The Needs Of Different Students.

  • Knowledge Of Reading Strategies And Techniques: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Reading Strategies And Techniques, Such As Active Reading, Note-Taking, And Critical Thinking. They Should Also Be Able To Apply These Strategies To Various Types Of Reading Materials.

  • Time Management And Organizational Skills: The Job Of A Reading Tutor May Involve Working With Multiple Students And Managing Their Schedules. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Manage Their Time And Prioritize Tasks To Meet The Needs Of All Students.

  • Familiarity With Devry University Curriculum: While Not A Requirement, Having Knowledge Of The Courses And Curriculum Offered At Devry University Can Be Beneficial In Providing Targeted Support To Students. It Can Also Help In Creating Study Materials And Resources Specific To The University's Curriculum.
