- Provide direct patient care: As a Patient Care Technician, you will be responsible for providing direct care to patients with kidney disease, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and administering medications as directed by the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with healthcare team: You will work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for each patient. This includes providing updates on patient status, reporting any changes or concerns, and assisting with procedures as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment: It is important to maintain a clean and safe environment for our patients. You will be responsible for ensuring patient rooms, equipment, and common areas are kept clean and disinfected at all times.
- Monitor and document patient progress: As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for monitoring and documenting patient progress, including vital signs, intake and output, and any changes in condition. This information is critical in providing the best possible care to our patients.
- Assist with patient education: You will play a role in educating patients and their families about kidney disease, treatment options, and self-care techniques. This may include providing information on diet and lifestyle changes, medication management, and monitoring for potential complications.
- Handle administrative tasks: In addition to direct patient care, you may also be responsible for handling administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and ordering supplies.
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion: Our patients are facing a challenging and often life-changing diagnosis. It is important for our Patient Care Technicians to demonstrate empathy and compassion in all interactions with patients, making them feel supported and cared for.

This includes following infection control protocols, maintaining patient confidentiality, and upholding ethical standards.

Completion Of An Accredited Patient Care Technician Program: Candidates Must Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Patient Care Technician Skills, Such As The National Healthcareer Association's Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (Cpct/A) Program.
Knowledge Of Basic Medical Terminology: Patient Care Technicians Must Be Familiar With Medical Terminology And Abbreviations Commonly Used In A Healthcare Setting, In Order To Accurately Communicate With Healthcare Providers And Understand Patient Charts And Records.
Cpr Certification: As Patient Care Technicians Often Work With Patients Who Have Chronic Or Acute Health Conditions, It Is Crucial That They Are Trained In Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Cpr) In Case Of Emergency Situations.
Experience In Patient Care: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Preferred For Patient Care Technician Roles. This Experience Should Include Direct Patient Care, Such As Taking Vital Signs, Assisting With Activities Of Daily Living, And Providing Emotional Support To Patients.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Patient Care Technicians Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. They Should Be Empathetic, Compassionate, And Able To Maintain A Professional Demeanor In Emotionally Charged Situations.
