
Laboratory Animal Technician

- Provide daily care and husbandry for laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, and maintaining clean and safe living environments.
- Monitor and record animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or researchers.
- Assist in the handling and restraint of animals for routine procedures and research experiments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal care, including health status and treatments.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding animal welfare and research.
- Maintain and clean animal research facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist in the ordering and inventory of animal care supplies.
- Collaborate with researchers and veterinary staff to support animal-related research projects.
- Participate in training programs for animal handling, care, and welfare.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students regarding animal care and facility operations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to protect both animal and human health.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth in the field of laboratory animal care.
- Promote a culture of ethical and humane treatment of animals within the research community.
- Uphold the values and mission of Dartmouth College in all aspects of job performance.
Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field, Such As Veterinary Technology, Biology, Or Animal Science.
Certification As A Laboratory Animal Technician (Lat) Through The American Association For Laboratory Animal Science (Aalas).
At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working With Laboratory Animals, Preferably In A Research Setting.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Animal Care And Handling Techniques, Including Animal Husbandry, Health Monitoring, And Disease Recognition.
Strong Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team.
