  1. Conduct research and analysis on materials properties to support product development and improvement efforts.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement materials solutions that meet design and performance requirements.
  3. Develop and execute testing plans to evaluate materials performance and reliability.
  4. Utilize knowledge of materials science and engineering principles to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges.
  5. Stay current on industry trends and advancements in materials technology to continuously improve processes and products.
  6. Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for material selection and usage.
  7. Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for materials used in product development.
  8. Document findings and communicate results to project teams and leadership.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to source new materials and components.
  10. Mentor and train junior engineers and interns in materials engineering principles and practices.
  11. Work with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering initiatives.
  12. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize material usage and processes for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  13. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing process improvements related to materials engineering.
  14. Actively contribute to the development and execution of company-wide sustainability initiatives.
  15. Represent Cummins at industry conferences and events to showcase our materials engineering capabilities and innovations.

Job Qualifications
  • Proficiency In Cad Software And Other Engineering Design Tools.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Materials Engineering Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Strong Understanding Of Materials Properties And Their Applications In Engineering Design.

  • Experience With Materials Testing And Analysis Techniques, Including Microscopy, Spectroscopy, And Mechanical Testing.

  • Excellent Communication And Team Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Cross-Functionally With Other Engineers And Departments.
