Job Description

Costco Wholesale is seeking a Licensed Optician to join our team and provide exceptional customer service while assisting members with their eyewear needs. As a Licensed Optician, you will play a vital role in our optical department by utilizing your expertise and knowledge to help our members find the perfect pair of glasses.   1. Assist members in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their individual needs and preferences.
  2. Utilize knowledge and expertise to accurately measure and fit eyewear for members.
  3. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any questions or concerns members may have regarding their eyewear.
  4. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing orders and completing paperwork.
  5. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments in order to provide the best possible recommendations to members.
  6. Collaborate with the optical team to ensure the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
  7. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation guidelines.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  9. Continuously strive to improve the overall member experience at the optical department.
  10. Attend and actively participate in training sessions and meetings as required.
  11. Communicate any issues or concerns to the optical manager in a timely and professional manner.
  12. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements.

Job Qualifications

  • Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, Along With Completion Of A Formal Optician Training Program Or Apprenticeship. A Valid State License As An Optician Is Also Necessary.

  • Knowledge Of Optical Products And Services: A Licensed Optician At Costco Wholesale Should Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Optical Products, Including Eyeglasses, Contact Lenses, And Sunglasses, As Well As The Latest Trends In The Industry. They Should Also Be Knowledgeable About Different Lens Options And Vision Insurance Plans.

  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent Customer Service Skills Are Essential For This Role, As Licensed Opticians Will Be Interacting With Customers On A Daily Basis. They Should Be Able To Listen To Customers' Needs, Provide Accurate Information, And Assist With Finding The Right Eyewear To Meet Their Needs.

  • Technical Skills: Licensed Opticians Should Have Strong Technical Skills, Including The Ability To Accurately Measure And Fit Eyeglasses, Repair And Adjust Frames, And Dispense Contact Lenses. They Should Also Be Familiar With Using Computerized Systems For Inventory Management And Order Tracking.

  • Teamwork And Communication: As Part Of The Optical Team At Costco Wholesale, A Licensed Optician Should Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Team Members, Including Optometrists And Optical Assistants. Strong Communication Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Communicate With Team Members And Customers Alike.
