  1. Oversee and manage all state and local tax audits for the company, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  2. Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the company's tax liability and maximize tax savings.
  3. Monitor and analyze state and local tax legislation and regulations, and communicate potential impacts to leadership.
  4. Serve as the primary point of contact for state and local tax authorities during audits, responding to inquiries and providing necessary documentation.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data and information for audit purposes.
  6. Review and approve tax calculations and returns prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  7. Train and mentor team members on tax laws and regulations, as well as audit processes and procedures.
  8. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline audit procedures and increase efficiency.
  9. Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for potential areas of improvement.
  10. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tax authorities, to ensure successful and timely completion of audits.
  11. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in state and local tax to continuously improve the company's tax strategies and processes.
  12. Represent the company in meetings and discussions with external auditors, providing necessary information and support.
  13. Collaborate with the legal team on tax-related legal matters, including disputes and litigation.
  14. Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and controls related to tax audits and reporting.
  15. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership.

Job Qualifications
  • At Least 10 Years Of Experience In State And Local Tax Audit, Preferably In A Large Corporation Or Public Accounting Firm.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of All State And Local Tax Laws And Regulations, Including Sales And Use Tax, Property Tax, And Income Tax.

  • Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing And Leading A Team Of Tax Professionals, Including Delegating Tasks, Setting Goals, And Providing Guidance And Feedback.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Identify And Resolve Complex Tax Issues.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Present Tax Strategies And Findings To Senior Management And External Stakeholders.
