- Lead and manage the Fiber Planning & Design team, providing guidance and direction to team members.
- Develop and implement strategies for the planning and design of the fiber network, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in fiber technology to continuously improve network design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of fiber network plans with overall company goals and objectives.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed fiber network maps and documentation.
- Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of current fiber network infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to streamline and standardize fiber planning and design workflows.
- Train and mentor team members on technical skills and best practices.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of network equipment.
- Act as a subject matter expert on fiber network planning and design, providing guidance and support to other teams within the company.
- Identify and troubleshoot network issues, and develop solutions to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular quality assurance checks to ensure network designs meet company standards and customer requirements.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators to track the efficiency and effectiveness of the fiber network.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve and optimize processes and systems within the Fiber Planning & Design team.
- Communicate regularly with upper management to provide updates on network design projects and make recommendations for improvements.
Extensive Experience In Fiber Planning And Design: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Fiber Planning And Design, With A Strong Understanding Of Industry Standards And Best Practices.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Fiber Network Architecture: A Principal Engineer In This Role Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Fiber Network Architecture, Including Design, Construction, And Maintenance. This Includes Knowledge Of Fiber Optics And Related Equipment, Such As Olts, Onts, And Splitters.
Strong Leadership Skills: As A Principal Engineer, The Candidate Must Have Proven Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Manage And Lead A Team Of Engineers And Technicians. This Includes The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Provide Direction, And Make Critical Decisions.
Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Principal Engineer Will Be Required To Work Closely With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Network Operations, Project Management, And External Vendors. Therefore, Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.
Bachelor's Degree In Electrical Engineering Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Position. Advanced Degrees And Certifications In Fiber Optics And Network Design Are Also Highly Desirable.
