We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Swimming Instructor to join our team and help us provide high-quality swim lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels. As a Swimming Instructor, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and skills with others while promoting water safety and helping individuals build confidence in the pool. We are looking for individuals who are certified in lifeguarding and CPR, have previous experience teaching swim lessons, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Teach swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, following established lesson plans and curriculum.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, promoting water safety at all times.
- Possess and maintain current certifications in lifeguarding and CPR.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate the progress of each participant and provide feedback for improvement.
- Communicate effectively with participants and their parents/guardians, addressing any questions or concerns in a professional manner.
- Collaborate with other Swimming Instructors and staff to ensure efficient and effective lesson delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress for each participant.
- Ensure that all equipment and facility areas are clean, organized, and safe for use.
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
- Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional development to enhance teaching skills.
- Serve as a role model for participants, displaying professionalism and enthusiasm for the sport of swimming.
- Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as safety guidelines and protocols.
- Assist with the planning and execution of special events and programs related to swimming and water safety.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the department in a positive manner at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Lifeguard Certification: All Swimming Instructors At City Of Ventura Must Be Certified Lifeguards, Ensuring A High Level Of Safety For All Participants In The Program.
Cpr And First Aid Training: In Addition To Lifeguard Certification, Swimming Instructors Must Also Have Current Cpr And First Aid Training. This Is Crucial For Responding To Any Emergencies That May Occur During Lessons.
Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (Wsi) Certification: A Wsi Certification Is Preferred For All Swimming Instructors At City Of Ventura. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Expertise In Teaching Swimming And Water Safety.
Previous Teaching Experience: City Of Ventura Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience As A Swimming Instructor. This Can Include Teaching Swim Lessons, Coaching A Swim Team, Or Leading Water Fitness Classes.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Swimming Instructor, It Is Important To Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Students And Their Parents. This Includes Providing Clear Instructions, Giving Feedback And Addressing Any Concerns Or Questions. Additionally, Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary For Building Positive Relationships With Students And Creating A Fun And Engaging Learning Environment.
