Job Description

  1. Attend and successfully complete all required trainings and courses to become a certified police officer.
  2. Learn and understand all laws, regulations, and policies related to law enforcement.
  3. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the community and its needs.
  4. Respond promptly and professionally to emergency and non-emergency calls.
  5. Conduct thorough investigations and gather evidence in a timely manner.
  6. Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to handle difficult situations and make decisions.
  7. Maintain a high level of physical and mental fitness to effectively perform duties.
  8. Work effectively as a team member and communicate clearly and professionally with fellow officers and community members.
  9. Uphold and enforce laws with integrity and fairness.
  10. Provide support and assistance to victims of crimes and ensure their rights are protected.
  11. Maintain accurate and detailed records and reports.
  12. Participate in community outreach and education programs to promote safety and build positive relationships.
  13. Continuously strive to improve skills and knowledge through ongoing training and development.
  14. Represent the City of Ventura and the Police Department in a professional and positive manner.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Basic Requirement For Becoming A Police Officer Trainee At City Of Ventura Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Minimum Level Of Education And Competency.

  • Valid Driver's License: As A Police Officer Trainee, You Will Be Required To Operate A Police Vehicle And Respond To Emergency Situations. A Valid Driver's License Is Necessary To Perform These Duties.

  • Physical Fitness: Police Work Can Be Physically Demanding, And As A Trainee, You Will Be Expected To Participate In Physical Training And Pass A Physical Fitness Test. Being Physically Fit Is Important For The Safety Of Yourself And Others.
