  1. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to improve the overall livability and sustainability of the city.
  2. Lead and manage complex planning projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  3. Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making and identify potential challenges and opportunities for the city.
  4. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including community members, government officials, and other departments, to gather input and build consensus on planning projects.
  5. Provide expert advice and guidance to city officials and staff on planning and development issues.
  6. Review and evaluate development proposals, zoning changes, and other land use applications to ensure compliance with city regulations and policies.
  7. Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and presentations to city council, planning commission, and other committees.
  8. Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, best practices, and legislation related to urban planning and make recommendations for incorporating them into the city's planning processes.
  9. Mentor and train junior planners and other staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of urban planning.
  10. Foster positive relationships and partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to promote effective collaboration and engagement in planning processes.
  11. Develop and manage project budgets and contracts with external consultants to support planning projects.
  12. Oversee the maintenance and updates of the city's comprehensive plan and other planning documents.
  13. Serve as a spokesperson for the city on planning and development matters, representing the city's interests in public forums and meetings.
  14. Ensure that all planning projects and initiatives align with the city's goals and values of creating a vibrant and sustainable community for all residents.
  15. Uphold ethical standards and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and codes of conduct in all planning activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Planning Role, Preferably In A Municipal Government Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Land Use, Zoning, And Development.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Various Stakeholders And Present Complex Information To Diverse Audiences.

  • Prior Experience Leading And Managing A Team, As Well As Developing And Implementing Strategic Plans For City Development.
