- Provide legal counsel and guidance to city officials and departments on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to contracts, ordinances, regulations, and policies.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues and prepare written opinions and recommendations for city leadership.
- Represent the city in legal proceedings, including litigation, administrative hearings, and negotiations.
- Develop and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Advise city departments on potential legal risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with other city attorneys and legal staff to ensure consistency and efficiency in legal matters.
- Stay current on relevant laws and regulations and provide updates and training to city staff as needed.
- Assist in the development and review of city policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
- Manage outside counsel and legal consultants as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal records and documentation.
- Serve as a liaison between the city and external legal entities, such as state and federal agencies and other municipalities.
- Provide support and guidance to the City Attorney and other legal staff as needed.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and ensure compliance with legal and professional standards of conduct.
- Act as a representative of the city in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve legal processes and procedures within the city.
Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School
Admission To Practice Law In The State Of Arizona
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Practicing Municipal Law Or Related Field
Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Local, State, And Federal Laws Relevant To The City Of Tucson
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Advise And Collaborate With City Officials, Staff, And The Public.
