  1. Develop and implement long-term plans and policies for the City of Tucson in collaboration with other city departments and stakeholders.
  2. Conduct research and analysis on key urban planning issues and present findings and recommendations to city officials and community members.
  3. Collaborate with community groups and organizations to gather input and feedback on proposed plans and policies.
  4. Evaluate development proposals and make recommendations based on their alignment with city plans and policies.
  5. Monitor and track progress on city planning initiatives and report on key metrics and outcomes.
  6. Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in urban planning and make recommendations for incorporating them into city plans.
  8. Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate the city's vision and progress to various stakeholders.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, community groups, and government agencies.
  10. Participate in public meetings and hearings to present plans and gather input from community members.
  11. Keep accurate and detailed records of all planning activities and projects.
  12. Collaborate with other city departments and outside agencies as needed to integrate multiple perspectives into city plans.
  13. Identify potential challenges and risks related to city planning initiatives and propose solutions to address them.
  14. Assist in the preparation and management of the city's budget for planning activities.
  15. Uphold the city's commitment to diversity and inclusivity in all planning efforts.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Architecture, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Planning And Development.

  • Experience With Gis And Other Planning Software.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Work With Diverse Stakeholders And Present Complex Information To The Public.

  • Previous Experience In A Planning Role, Preferably In A Municipal Government Setting.
