
Lifeguard (NON-PERM)

As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our community members at our pools and aquatic facilities. - Ensure the safety of all individuals at the City of Tucson's Aquatics facilities by actively monitoring the pool area and responding quickly and effectively to any potential hazards or emergencies.
- Enforce all rules and regulations set forth by the City of Tucson's Aquatics Department to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.
- Maintain constant vigilance and attentiveness while on duty, scanning the pool area and identifying any potential risks or unsafe behaviors.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting guests, answering questions, and providing helpful information about the facilities and programs.
- Communicate effectively with fellow lifeguards and Aquatics staff, reporting any incidents or concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the pools and facilities.
- Participate in regular training and drills to maintain and improve lifeguarding skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of equipment and designated break and rotation schedules.
- Assist in the implementation and supervision of aquatic programs, such as swim lessons, water aerobics, and special events.
- Act as a positive role model for guests and fellow staff members, promoting a culture of inclusivity, respect, and teamwork.
Current Lifeguard Certification: The Candidate Must Possess A Current Lifeguard Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Red Cross Or The Ymca.
First Aid And Cpr Certification: Along With A Lifeguard Certification, The Candidate Must Also Have A Current First Aid And Cpr Certification. This Ensures That They Are Prepared To Respond To Any Emergency Situation.
Physical Fitness: Lifeguarding Is A Physically Demanding Job, So Candidates Must Be In Good Physical Condition. They Should Be Able To Pass A Swim Test And Maintain Endurance Throughout Long Shifts.
Strong Communication Skills: Lifeguards Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Both Colleagues And The Public. They May Need To Give Instructions Or Provide Assistance In Emergency Situations, So Clear Communication Is Essential.
Previous Experience: While Not Always Required, Previous Lifeguarding Experience Is Highly Desirable. Candidates With Previous Experience Have A Better Understanding Of The Job Duties And Can Adapt More Quickly To The Specific Policies And Procedures Of The City Of Tucson.
