You will work collaboratively with a team to complete repairs, renovations, and preventative maintenance tasks.The ideal candidate will have experience in building maintenance and possess a strong understanding of various trade skills.   1. Perform routine maintenance tasks on city buildings, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
  2. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and take proactive measures to prevent them.
  3. Respond to maintenance requests from city departments and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
  4. Troubleshoot and diagnose building maintenance problems, and develop appropriate solutions.
  5. Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed when completing maintenance tasks.
  6. Collaborate with other team members to complete larger maintenance projects.
  7. Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks, including completed work orders and inventory of supplies.
  8. Communicate effectively with city staff and contractors to coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  9. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or code violations.
  10. Stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices for building maintenance.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  12. Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
  13. Act as a point of contact for building-related emergencies.
  14. Attend training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Building Maintenance Technician At City Of Troy Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.

  • Trade School Or Vocational Training: Candidates With Additional Training Or Certification From A Trade School Or Vocational Program In Building Maintenance Or Related Field Will Be Given Preference.

  • Previous Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Building Maintenance Or A Related Field Is Required For This Position. Candidates With Experience In A Municipal Government Setting Will Be Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Building Codes And Safety Regulations: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Building Codes And Safety Regulations To Ensure Compliance With Local, State, And Federal Laws.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency In Various Technical Skills Including Plumbing, Electrical, Hvac, And Carpentry Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Be Able To Troubleshoot And Repair Equipment And Systems As Needed.
