- Stay up-to-date on all relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations and ensure that all inspections and procedures are in line with current standards.
- Collaborate with other city departments, contractors, and property owners to resolve any issues or concerns related to building safety and code compliance.
- Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building safety and code compliance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections, violations, and corrective actions taken.
- Provide guidance and support to contractors, architects, and property owners regarding building codes and regulations.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that corrective actions have been implemented and compliance has been achieved.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new building codes and regulations as needed.
- Uphold the city's commitment to promoting safe and sustainable building practices.
- Represent the city at meetings and hearings related to building safety and code compliance.
- Complete all administrative tasks and paperwork associated with the role accurately and in a timely manner.

Previous Experience In Building Inspection: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Building Inspection, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.
Knowledge Of Building Codes And Regulations: Building Inspectors At City Of Troy Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Local, State, And National Building Codes And Regulations.
Strong Communication Skills: Building Inspectors Must Have Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills In Order To Effectively Communicate With Contractors, Property Owners, And Other City Officials.
Attention To Detail: A Keen Eye For Detail Is Essential For Building Inspectors To Identify Potential Safety Hazards, Code Violations, And Other Issues During Inspections.
Relevant Education Or Certifications: A Degree In Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Or A Related Field Is Preferred.
