- Conduct thorough inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Identify and report any violations or discrepancies found during inspections.
- Provide guidance and support to contractors and property owners on building code requirements and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all inspections and violations.
- Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to ensure all construction projects are in compliance with zoning and land use regulations.
- Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building code compliance.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that all violations have been addressed and corrected.
- Stay updated on changes to building codes and regulations and incorporate them into inspection processes.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge and skills related to building codes and inspection procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders, including contractors, property owners, and members of the community.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to building inspections.
- Work closely with the Building Department team to improve processes and ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Represent the City of Sunnyvale in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Department Manager.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Building Inspection Or Related Field.
Bachelor's Degree In Construction Management, Engineering, Or A Related Field.
Knowledge Of Building Codes And Regulations, Including California Building Code, California Energy Code, And Local Ordinances.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Communicate Technical Information To Non-Technical Individuals.
Certification As A Building Inspector By The International Code Council (Icc) Or Similar Organization Preferred.
