
Prisoner Processing Clerk
Welcome to the City of St. Louis Department of Corrections, where our mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for both our staff and inmates. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prisoner Processing Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate records and processing individuals into our correctional facilities. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all individuals processed into the correctional facility.
- Process incoming inmates according to established procedures and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough searches of individuals and their belongings to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
- Verify personal information and criminal history of inmates during the intake process.
- Create and maintain inmate identification records and documentation.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of inmate processing.
- Identify any potential security risks or concerns and report them to superiors.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and visitors to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Keep accurate and organized records of all activities and incidents within the facility.
- Monitor and maintain custody of inmates during the processing and intake process.
- Assist in the transportation of inmates to and from the facility, as needed.
- Attend training and professional development sessions to stay current on policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times when interacting with inmates and staff.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The Prisoner Processing Clerk Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education To Be Considered For The Job.
Experience In Administrative Work: The Candidate Should Have At Least One Year Of Experience In An Administrative Role, Preferably In A Law Enforcement Or Correctional Setting.
Knowledge Of Criminal Justice System: The Prisoner Processing Clerk Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Criminal Justice System And The Laws And Regulations Related To Processing And Handling Prisoners.
Excellent Communication Skills: This Role Requires Frequent Communication With Law Enforcement Personnel, Attorneys, And Other Stakeholders. The Candidate Should Possess Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills.
Ability To Handle Sensitive And Confidential Information: The Prisoner Processing Clerk Will Have Access To Sensitive And Confidential Information, And Must Be Able To Handle This Information With Discretion And Professionalism. A Background Check May Be Required To Ensure The Candidate’s Suitability For Handling Such Information.
