  1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, and buses.
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with vehicles.
  3. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and address them in a timely manner.
  4. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  5. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
  6. Order and maintain inventory of necessary parts and supplies.
  7. Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient operation of the fleet.
  8. Communicate with supervisors and managers about any issues or concerns regarding vehicle maintenance.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry advancements and new technologies in vehicle maintenance.
  10. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  11. Keep work area clean and organized.
  12. Prioritize and manage workload to meet deadlines.
  13. Participate in training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
  14. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  15. Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to accurately identify and resolve issues.
  16. Perform preventative maintenance tasks to prolong the lifespan of vehicles.
  17. Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of vehicles and make recommendations for improvements.
  18. Adhere to all environmental regulations and guidelines.
  19. Assist in the training and mentoring of new team members.
  20. Represent the City of St. Louis in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Fleet Maintenance Technician At The City Of St. Louis Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Understand Technical Manuals And Safety Protocols.

  • Experience In Automotive Maintenance: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Automotive Maintenance, Preferably In A Fleet Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Engine Repair, Electrical Systems, And General Maintenance Procedures.

  • Ase Certification: The City Of St. Louis Prefers Candidates Who Are Certified By The National Institute For Automotive Service Excellence (Ase). This Certification Demonstrates A Higher Level Of Expertise And Knowledge In Automotive Maintenance.

  • Valid Driver's License: A Valid Driver's License Is Required For This Position, As Fleet Maintenance Technicians May Be Required To Operate City Vehicles For Testing And Repairs. A Clean Driving Record Is Also Preferred.

  • Ability To Lift And Carry Heavy Objects: This Job May Require Physical Strength And The Ability To Lift And Carry Heavy Objects, Such As Car Parts And Equipment. Candidates Should Be In Good Physical Condition And Able To Perform These Tasks Safely.
