Job Description

Are you passionate about aviation and airport operations? The City of St. Louis is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable Airfield Operations Specialist to join our team. As part of the Aviation Division, this role will focus on the operational safety and compliance of our airport. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional who understands the importance of airfield operations.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in airport operations, including knowledge of airfield operations, airport safety regulations, and FAA regulations. The candidate must have excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. A valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule are also required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and evaluate the operational safety and compliance of the airport in accordance with FAA regulations.
  2. Maintain updated knowledge of airfield operations and airport safety regulations.
  3. Enforce safety regulations to ensure the safety of airport personnel and the general public.
  4. Investigate and respond to any complaints or incidents reported to the Aviation Division.
  5. Prepare and submit reports on operational safety and compliance activities.
  6. Maintain communication with other airport personnel and regulatory agencies.
  7. Work closely with the airport’s security team to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  8. Monitor airport operations to identify areas of improvement or potential risks.
  9. Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
  10. Establish and maintain positive relationships with airport personnel and external stakeholders.
  11. Provide training and guidance to staff on airfield operations and safety regulations.
  12. Perform daily inspections of the airfield and surrounding areas.
  13. Assist with the preparation of the airport's emergency plan.
  14. Manage the airport's aviation database.
  15. Assist with the development of airport safety and operational policies.
