  1. Serve and protect the community: The primary responsibility of this role is to serve and protect the citizens of Santa Monica by enforcing laws and maintaining public safety.
  2. Uphold department values: The Police Officer must uphold the values of community, respect, and excellence in all aspects of their work and interactions with the public.
  3. Exhibit integrity: As a representative of the Santa Monica Police Department, the Officer must possess a strong sense of integrity and adhere to ethical standards.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Full-Time Sworn Law Enforcement Officer At A Recognized Agency.

  • Possession Of A Valid California Basic Post Certificate Or Basic Course Waiver, Or Be Eligible For A California Basic Post Course Waiver.

  • Must Have A Valid California Class C Driver's License At Time Of Appointment.

  • Ability To Pass A Comprehensive Background Investigation, Including But Not Limited To A Polygraph Examination, Psychological Evaluation, And Medical Examination.

  • Must Possess A High Level Of Physical Fitness And Be Able To Pass A Physical Agility Test.
