- Conduct regular inspections of properties and public spaces to identify potential violations of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Investigate and resolve complaints from citizens regarding potential code violations.
- Work with property owners and residents to educate them on applicable codes and regulations and help them come into compliance.
- Enforce land use, zoning, housing, and environmental health laws and regulations through a variety of methods, such as issuing citations or fines.
- Maintain accurate records of code violations, inspections, and enforcement actions taken.
- Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to address complex or ongoing code enforcement issues.
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in code enforcement.
- Provide timely and effective communication to stakeholders, including property owners, residents, and other city officials.
- Attend court hearings and testify as needed in code enforcement cases.
- Participate in community outreach efforts to promote awareness of code regulations and encourage compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new or revised codes and ordinances.
- Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of code enforcement efforts and make recommendations for improvement.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in carrying out code enforcement duties.
- Attend trainings and conferences to stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by the department director.
A Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Law Enforcement, Or A Related Field.
At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Code Enforcement, Zoning, Or Building Inspections.
Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws Related To Code Enforcement, Building Codes, And Land Use Regulations.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Residents, Property Owners, And Government Officials.
Ability To Interpret And Enforce Complex Codes And Regulations, And Make Sound Decisions In Accordance With Established Policies And Procedures.
