Job Description

  1. Conduct research and analysis to support the development of comprehensive plans and policies for the city.
  2. Collaborate with other planners, city officials, and community stakeholders to gather input and feedback on planning projects.
  3. Prepare and present reports, studies, and recommendations to city council and other decision-making bodies.
  4. Review and evaluate development proposals to ensure compliance with zoning laws and regulations.
  5. Assist in the creation and implementation of land use plans, including zoning and subdivision ordinances.
  6. Conduct site visits and field surveys to gather data and assess the impact of proposed developments.
  7. Work closely with various city departments to ensure coordination and consistency in planning efforts.
  8. Stay informed and up-to-date on current planning trends, best practices, and legislation.
  9. Utilize GIS and other mapping tools to analyze and visualize data for planning projects.
  10. Engage with the community through public meetings, workshops, and outreach events to gather input and address concerns.
  11. Provide excellent customer service to citizens, developers, and other stakeholders.
  12. Maintain accurate and organized records and documentation related to planning projects.
  13. Assist in the preparation and management of the department's budget.
  14. Act as a liaison between the city and developers, answering questions and providing guidance on planning processes and procedures.
  15. Mentor and supervise junior planning staff as needed.
  16. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all planning matters.
  17. Continuously evaluate and improve planning processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  18. Represent the city at planning conferences, workshops, and other professional events.
  19. Participate in long-term and strategic planning initiatives for the city.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Planning Manager or Director of Planning and Development.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Municipal Planning, Land Use, Or Zoning.

  • Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Planning Laws And Regulations.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Collaborate With Various Stakeholders And Community Members.
